Family Counseling

Internal Family Systems, Object Relations, Relational, Attachment, and Experiential theoretical approaches within family counseling help family members solve relational problems by better understanding how emotional processes influence those involved's perceptions, feelings, and actions. 

To understand how one family member acts in relation to other family members, our psychodynamic family therapy in Kansas City focuses on motivations, conflicts, defenses, and past relationships that influence the present.  Family interactions are explained in terms of internal processes within individual family members. Therapeutic change is sought through family members gaining conscious insight into previously unconscious processes that have been generating problems in family relationships.
